This kit features low water, deer resistant perennials that are easy to grow and easy on the eyes. Enjoy bright colors, unique flower shapes, and an array of fuzzy, glossy, and leathery leaves. This is a good place to start if you want to use native plants to create a more traditional garden look.

The species represent a wide range of botanical families; this diversity will attract a multitude of beneficial critters to your yard. Additionally, these plants are some of our better-behaved individuals. While they will certainly produce volunteers, they are generally easy to dead-head. All have shortish clumping habits; no creeping, and are suitable for borders and near paths.

Aspen daisy and blanketflower are the tallest at around 30" max.

Due to the dynamic nature of growing native plants, we can't guarantee the precise species numbers and makeup of each kit. This helps us keep these kits affordable and available.

Plant in full sun to part shade with well-draining soil. Low water.

It is important to remove existing grass and weeds either mechanically or via chemicals before you plant plugs. If using chemicals, ensure soil residence time is exceeded before planting. The county extension folks can help with that.

Space plugs 1 to 2 feet apart. Water deeply every week during the first growing season, and weekly in hot dry weather thereafter. Keep area between plants clear of weeds and lawn grass. Plants will come back year after year, and will readily reseed!
