Photos don't do timber oatgrass justice...it's a little plain, aesthetically, but it is a tough plant that provides quality forage and can handle more grazing than most. It has conspicuously hairy stems and a short stature, and can thrive in a variety of habitats including partial shade. This grass begins growing early in the season and provides good forage for elk. Its longevity and resilience make it a decent candidate for long-term restoration projects.
