Red-osier dogwoods line local creeks, recognizable with ruby-colored twigs and large green and purple leaves. Dogwoods have been popular in landscaping for years, prized for their white flowers, pale berries, and brilliant fall foliage. Ours is a streamside species, so in the absence of a waterway it will need regular irrigation. In return it will provide privacy, beauty, and wildlife food and habitat. Requires significantly less water with afternoon shade.
