Canada wildrye is a tall bunchgrass that takes up a generous amount of visual space. If you are looking for some relatively quick visual screening, this grass is a good choice. Bonus, like other grasses it actually enjoys a modest amount of deer browse. Due to its moisture tolerance and quick growth rate, it's also a good choice for swales and to stabilize areas of the yard with minor periodic flooding.

While similar to great basin wildrye, Canada wildrye prefers more moisture. Additionally, its seedheads have a somwhat nodding, fuzzy appearance. This tall grass provides a solid backdrop for tall flowering plants such as: nettle-leaf giant hyssop, anise hyssop, pearly everlasting, purple monkeyflower, and maximilian sunflower.
