Rubber rabbitbrush is a standard for xeric landscaping. For good reason, too, as it needs little to no irrigation while providing structure and late-season color to the garden. Soft greenish branches and blue-grey leaves are the perfect backdrop for densely packed bright yellow flowers.

Plant these little shrubs anywhere sunny and well-draining. Too much water will make them very spawling though. They can also accumulate dead wood, so prune them back a little periodically to reinvigorate the 'rubbery' stems. All of our low water prairie species make good companion plants to this versatile shrub.
