Fuzzy-tongue penstemon is one of our showiest xeric plants, more so considering that they grow on dry rocky ridges and slopes where other plants struggle to survive. Large bell-shaped pink-purple blooms attract a variety of pollinators, but bumblebees are especially fond of them.

Plant these somewhere sunny and very well-drained, and consider a thin layer of gravel mulch. Fuzzy-tongue looks stunning with cushion buckwheat, Missoula phlox, blanket flower, prairie junegrass, and pussytoes.
