Cinquefoil is named for its five-fingered leaf, in this case dark green with a bright silvery underside. Butter-yellow flowers appear in early-to-mid summer, and a early fall moisture can lead to a second round of blooms. The foliage is fairly low-growing, while the flower stalks reach quite a bit higher. Slender cinquefoil is appropriate for sunny dry and partly shaded sites, and looks nice with blanketflower, yarrow, penstemon, and bunchgrasses.
