Field chickweed is a well-behaved little groundcover that spreads via short rhizomes and narrow-leafed stalks - it is unrelated to the invasive variety that you pull out of your vegetable gardens. In spring and early summer it becomes a mass of little white flowers. Field chickweed likes little draws and dips on the grassy hillsides, anyplace where the moisture sticks around longer. They do well under open tree canopies. Clip back after blooming for vigorous growth and maybe a fall bloom. Plant with beebalm, wilcox penstemon, and slender cinquefoil.
