Lady fern is a robust versatile fern that will thrive in a garden setting as long as it has ample moisture and afternoon shade. Perfect for shady north walls, near downspouts, and around water features. A nice layer of organic mulch (like wood chips or chopped leaves) will conserve moisture and keep your fern nourished and happy. The leaves die back in the fall and resprout each spring. This large species can be a nice accent specimen. Grow with red-osier dogwood, miterwort, western coneflower, and black gooseberry.
