Full shade, full sun, it doesn't matter to this guy. Spreading dogbane creeps via rhizome to colonize open areas with its graceful arching low-profile branches. Plant it in established areas or spots where you don't mind it spreading out a bit. Delicate pink flowers become long seed pods that release tiny windborn seeds. Spreading dogbane grows successfully in full shade (look for it up Spring Creek in the Rattlesnake) and also in full sun on dry sunny slopes (Sawmill Gulch has some good examples).
