Nettle-leaf giant hyssop (or horsemint) is an upright non-spreading perennial in the mint family. It’s a versatile plant, tolerating well-drained or wet soils. In our area, this plant is often found growing along creeks, but some populations inhabit shallow draws on high and dry hillsides. Light pink flowers with darker bracts attract bumblebees and swallowtails. Clipping old flower heads will encourage a second bloom, and leaving some seed heads will ensure a stable future population.
