The harebell is a delicate flower with a tough constitution. It thrives in any well-drained soil, even in full shade! The nodding bell-shaped flowers perfectly accommodate bumblebees, who (we imagine) are pretty excited to find something so enticing blooming at the end of the summer. Harebells have an affinity for slopes, and are a good bet for troublesome dry spots under trees and in retaining walls. Too much water makes them floppy and unruly, so don’t let them over-imbibe.
